Chennai, September 9, 2026: The fishing community in Pattinampakkam, Chennai, received a boost to their livelihoods through a community-focused initiative jointly supported by Inchecape and communiTREE.
As part of the initiative, five fishing boats were painted, benefiting 20 families, while 15 ice boxes were distributed to 15 fisherwomen. The ice boxes are intended to help fisherwomen preserve their catch for longer periods and reduce spoilage, thereby supporting their income and livelihoods.
The initiative was aimed at providing practical support to the local fishing community and strengthening their ability to sustain their traditional livelihoods.
The inauguration was attended by Rajini Ravi, Global Head of Finance Operations & CFO, Inchecape; Benjamin Harmstorf, Group CFO, Inchecape; and Hafizkhan, Founder of communiTREE.
Speaking through the initiative, Inchecape and communiTREE highlighted their shared commitment to community-centred interventions and resilient livelihoods.
The programme at Pattinampakkam reflects how targeted CSR and community development initiatives can address everyday challenges faced by fishing communities. Providing essential resources such as ice boxes can help fisherwomen maintain the quality of their catch, while support for fishing boats can contribute to the long-term sustainability of families dependent on fishing.
The initiative also places a focus on women’s livelihood support, with 15 fisherwomen receiving ice boxes to strengthen their post-harvest handling and reduce losses.
